Other than the obvious benefits of a good night in, the Paralympics have taught us a lot over the last couple of weeks, resulting in an unforgettable end to the summer. The first is that the Chinese are an unbelievably talented race. Yes, they might have numbers on their side but it’s the sheer dedication to their sport, whether they’ll able-bodied or not, that’s seen them finish at the top of both the Olympic and Paralympic tables again this year.
The Ukraine are setting the standard in paralympic funding, after Valeriy Suskevych argued the cause for a separate paralympic budget. Good work Suskevych. Take heed, world.
Sport can be more emotional than any film ever made, ever. The Coastermatic team alone have cried enough for the next four years. Rio, we’re ready for you.
